How Marvelous Mavis Davis Came To Be:
*Mavis Davis* was a playful joke between a father and daughter. When author Amy Wilson was growing up (then known as Amy Davis) her dad would tease, " If I had named you Mavis, you'd be Mavis Davis!" Years later, that silly nickname became the perfect name for a shark character Amy made up when she was 8 years old!
